Parents need to set a good example. Drinking in response to every emotion, positive or negative, sets a bad example. Parents need to think of ways to celebrate or problem-solve that don't involve alcohol and that will help their children do the same.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS PROGRAM GOALS
WSWC is the state trade association for the distribution tier of the Wine and Spirits Industry of Connecticut. Demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility, the WSWC sponsors a Community Relations program dedicated to advancing the prevention and reduction of the underage consumption of alcohol and the misuse of alcohol in Connecticut through community education, training, and advocacy.
- Increase awareness among parents on the dangers and extent of underage drinking
- Involve and work in partnership with parents, educators, Parent Teacher Organizations, healthcare professionals, and local officials to prevent underage consumption of alcohol
- Increase education in communities on the dangers and consequences of alcohol misuse and abuse
- Provide training for responsible beverage alcohol serving in restaurants, bars, and sales by package stores
- Collaborate with Connecticut’s universities/colleges to support or establish effective alcohol education prevention programs
